The Waking of Spring at Belgrade Fair

This "Most Beautiful and Fragrant" event,16th International Fair of Horticulture has opened, with the 14th Exhibtion of Medicinal Herbs and Honey Products "The Gifts of Nature" held simultaneously, until March 13.

The Fairs of Horticulture and Gifts of Nature are promoting the new sorts and technologies in plant growing, are held for six years under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. Emphasizing the positive and successful partnership with Belgrade Fair, Zeljko Radosevic, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, said that great energy has been invested into the Horticultural Fair.

"Our aim is to promote small agricultural producers who have the possibility at this event to come out of the local boundaries, get into cooperatives, expand their views and present themselves together on the large markets. Experiences have shown that they have taken their opportunities at the previous fairs and that the Fair of Horticulture enabled them to conclude important export businesses."

This event has gathered appr. 80 exhibitors from the country and abroad with the considerably increased interest among the producers from Belgium, Poland and Hungary. They have displayed seedlings, seeds, decorative plants, presented their fruit and vegetable products, as well as the "rules" in landscaping.

Watering systems, green houses, horticultural equipment and plant protection agents are on display. The Exhibition "The Gifts of Nature" is organised in several commodity groups – teas and ointments, medicinal and aromatic herbs, honey and honey products, mushrooms and wild fruits, phyto-cosmetics and phyto-pharmacy.
