Two Fair Events Opened – The Energy and Ecology Ones The International Energy Fair, the fourth one, and the 5th International Fair of Environment Protection and Local Self Management ECOFAIR 2008 were opened at Belgrade Fair. These two events take place in the Hall 1, at 5.5. thousand square meters exhibiting space and more than 250 local and worldwide exhibitors featured their offers. The visitors may see them by Friday, November 28.

At the festive opening ceremony, Mr. Andjelko Trpkovic, Belgrade Fair General Manager, said both events were very important for Serbia, since they deal with current topics and he expressed his expectation the relevant experts would use the events to exchange their experiences, make plans and bring the development strategy.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Environment and Space Planning, Dr. Miladin Avramov, the Secretary of State, said the connecting of these events was very important and the ecology became an unavoidable topic. The environment safekeeping had also many side effects – introduction of new, cleaner technologies, the economic growth, new employment opening, raising the consciousness of the importance of this field. Dealing with this topic contributed also to the Serbia’s joining the European Union, since local regulations had to be coordinated in this way with the European laws, taking a real great care of the environment protection.

Mr. Petar Skundric, Minister of Mining and Energy, proclaimed the events open, saying the main objectives of Serbia within energy were providing a safe energy supply, increasing the total efficiency of the energy section, environment protection and the development of the sustainable energy sources.
- I expect the years in front of us to be the most creative development period in the Serbian energy section, pointed out Mr. Skundric.
